Michael B. Schwegler has a broad state and federal practice focused on personal injury, education, insurance defense, and state administrative review litigation, with particular emphasis on civil rights, municipal liability, and federal anti-discrimination litigation. He has successfully tried cases in state and federal courts and has argued before state and federal appellate courts. Prior to joining Mills & Cooper in 2006, Michael was an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Tennessee, where he defended the state in civil rights, personal injury, state taxation, and state administrative review lawsuits in state and federal courts.
Mr. Schwegler has been licensed to practice in Tennessee since 2003, and is licensed in the Western, Middle, and Eastern Districts of Tennessee, as well as the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals. He is a member of the Nashville, Tennessee, and American Bar Associations. Mr. Schwegler graduated in 2002 from Vanderbilt University Law School, where he served as a Notes Editor on the Vanderbilt Journal of Entertainment Law and Practice. He graduated from Miami University in 1999 with a B.A. in History and Diplomacy & Foreign Affairs.
Mr. Schwegler was born in Cleveland, Ohio. In his spare time, he enjoys golf, movies, the outdoors, travel, and reading especially history and all types of fiction.
