Michele E. Cooper is a 1991 graduate of Middle Tennessee State University. She graduated summa cum laude with a major in Political Science/Pre-Law and a minor in English and Spanish. She subsequently attended the University of Tennessee College of Law from 1992 to 1995, where she was a Staff Writer for the Tennessee Law Review. She was admitted to practice law in the State of Tennessee in 1995. She is also admitted in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Tennessee, and practices in all Sessions, Circuit, Chancery, District, and Appellate Courts, including the Tennessee Court of Appeals and the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals. Ms. Cooper and her partner, Michael P. Mills, founded Mills & Cooper in 1997, and have had an established practice for ten years. Prior to her current position, she worked at a civil defense firm as an Associate, and clerked at a medical malpractice firm. Mills & Cooper focuses on civil litigation, including but not limited to, arson and fraud special investigative unit cases, class action suits, representation of governmental entities in civil rights litigation and issues involving the Governmental Tort Liability Act, general insurance defense, and personal injury. Ms. Cooper is a member of the American, Nashville, and Tennessee Bar Associations. She is also a member of the National Society of Professional Insurance Investigators, as well as the Tennessee Chapter thereof. She was past Secretary for the Tennessee Chapter, and held a Board Member position in the National Chapter. She is a member of the Republican National Advisory Committee as a young professional, and is a member of Who's Who in Professional Women. In her spare time, Ms. Cooper is an avid reader and swimmer, and enjoys interior decorating.
